Dominic Hannigan today welcomed Lib Dem Shadow Environment Spokesperson, Martin Horwood MP to Cardiff South to look at environmental projects in action.

They were joined by Cardiff Central AM, Jenny Randerson and Cardiff North campaigner, Councillor Ed Bridges on a tour of G24 Innovations in Wentloog and Cardiff Council's new state of the art recycling facility.

G24I manufacture high-tech solar panels which are more flexible and versatile than any currently on the market. G24i utilizes the latest breakthrough in material science and nanotechnology creating a new class of advanced solar cells which are the closest mankind has come to replicating nature's photosynthesis. This technology platform will birth a wide range of new products - from those used by consumers every day, such as mobile telephones and laptops, to more cutting-edge products ranging from sensors, water purification and LED lighting systems, portable tent structures and building products.

Cardiff County Council's new recycling plant has installed hi-tech machinery that is capable of dealing with 90,000 tonnes of Cardiff's recyclable waste, a whopping 15 times more waste than before!

Dominic Hannigan said, "It is fantastic that Martin could visit us in the South of Cardiff. He was incredibly impressed by the way that these two projects show that Cardiff is at the cutting edge of building a more sustainable country."

"It is fantastic that G24I have chosen to make Cardiff their home. As well as the jobs boost they will give to the area, they are showing that environmentalism provides huge benefits for business and that Wales, with the right support can be at the heart of this."

"I was also really impressed with the Council's recycling plant. The Lib Dems on Cardiff Council are leading the way in making Cardiff a greener, cleaner city for all."
