Dominic Hannigan officially adopted to fight for Cardiff South and Penarth.10.47.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 5th Apr 2007
Local Campaigner Dominic Hannigan was this evening officially adopted to fight Cardiff South and Penarth in the National Assembly Elections in four weeks time. At the adoption meeting in Cardiff Bay, local members unanimously backed Dominic's campaign. Jenny Willott, MP for Cardiff Central and Chair of the National Assembly Campaign who spoke at the meeting said "I have seen Dominic evolve from a hardworking activist into an extremely effective hardworking politician and it is a pleasure to see him adopted at the heart of his constituency." Speaking after the meeting, Dominic said "I am delighted that the local membership have backed me unanimously to stand up for Cardiff South and Penarth in May. "For far too long, Labour have taken our constituency for granted, they have failed on so many things, from improving our schools, to making our streets safer, it is time for a change, and I am honoured to have this opportunity to be that change. "I will fight hard for a fair and safe future for everyone in Cardiff South and Penarth. "The message that I am already receiving on the doorstep shows that we can beat Labour this time. I will fight for a better future for our area, and a future where people's support is not taken for granted.
